Guayusa Spice
An Amazonian blend of energizing guayusa with full-bodied cinnamon and aromatic lemongrass. With more caffeine and double the antioxidants of any tea, guayusa offers clear, focused energy.

Extra Info:

Traditionally, indigenous families wake up together at dawn to drink guayusa. They sit around the communal fire drinking gourds full of guayusa until sunrise. During this time, the village elders teach the youth about ancestral myths, hunting techniques, social values, and about what it means to be “Runa” in the indigenous cosmovision. The guayusa ritual continues to be a cornerstone of Kichwa culture, a practice that brings the family and community together around the simple experience of drinking tea.

A Daily Drinker!

I originally bought the Guayusa herbal tea as a Secret Santa gift for one of my college hall mates - now, since he's a sharer, it's the suite's favorite!

This is a daily drinker. I was initially drawn to it because of its history and tradition. The lemongrass is subtle but refreshing. Cinnamon balances its astringent aftertaste. It undoubtedly fosters mental focus. That is not to say that it is not agreeable in the evening hours. I have even had it on a couple of occasions around bedtime and found it to be relaxing. This is my first Guayusa and will certainly not be my last.

Smooth, not bitter or tart. Excellent overall.

This tea tastes a bit like a 5 star green with lemon tea without any bitterness, sourness, or surprise “bite” at the end. Neither the green nor the lemongrass predominate in flavor: it's a perfect blend. There’s a slight hint of cinnamon, and there's a bit of astringency that I enjoy. Definitely has caffeine. I have not needed to sweeten this, which I do for most teas. I usually drink black tea. Guayusa stands alone as a great tea: not green, not mate, not black, not lemon: Just right.
