News:
The cooler weather we knew would arrive has done so. We here at the tea store would know it even if we didn't go outside. Demands for tea pots and loose whole leaf teas are a sure sign that people are beginning to think about bringing their plants inside and getting the blankets ready for cool nights.

It seems that many people like to make a fresh start this time of year. Summer is over; school has begun; everyone is back at the office. What better time than now to invest in a really good tea kettle for boiling spring water. You can pick out a tea pot that works well for you or a handy infuser to keep in your desk drawer. Start fresh! Go ahead and say goodbye to that old teapot that is too much trouble to use.

Drinking tea is a pleasure. If it is too difficult to make or doesn't taste right and make you feel good, something is wrong. Different teas are good for different people and this is the glory of tea. Do you enjoy watching the long twisted leaves unfurl in hot water? Then by all means, get a glass teapot. If you like really strong tea with milk and sugar, no need to pay for a fabulous Darjeeling or subtle Ceylon. Can't stand caffeine? Try the sweet and gentle Midnight Blue herbal blend.

Right now, green tea is a highly marketed drink. But green tea doesn't suit everyone. And it is easy to over-brew green tea into astringency. The old saying is that if it tastes good to you, it is the right tea for you. All Camellia Sinensis teas are high in anti-oxidants and other healthful attributes. Just sample different teas—white, green, black, oolongs-- and find what tastes good to you. Then drink plenty of it to receive the health benefits over a long period of time. And, of course, buy your tea at New Mexico Tea

Tea Tasting:
We have teas to suit a wide variety of tastes. If you're not sure what you want to try next, come in on Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and David will offer samples of tea you want to taste. You might be surprised to learn that the tea you bought that turned out to be bitter was simply brewed too long. David gives tips on brewing, quantity of tea and water to use, and what kind of equipment works well—and with ease. There is no charge, but please call ahead as space is limited. (505) 962-2137

New Pricing:
A few weeks ago we put into effect a new pricing structure that rewards you more for buying at least 4 ounces of a single tea. At 4 ounces you get a 20 percent discount on the ounce price. At 8 ounces you get a 35 percent discount, and finally if you buy a pound of tea you get 45 percent off. We have always given a discount for buying 8 and 16 ounces of tea, however the new pricing makes it more clear, and is a better deal for you.
