The open space and stark contrasts of the desert southwest greatly influence my work. I am drawn eternally to the play of light and shadow, how light plays off surfaces and how it dances across vast vistas. The natural world, the wilderness and the emptiness are my great companions and the sources of my inspiration. I strive for fluidity and congruence in all of my work, from painting to sculpture to furniture. All art has a function, whether it hangs on the wall, sits on a table or holds ones possessions or even oneself. Functionality is of the utmost importance to me. In that, I will continually strive for stability, balance, and simplicity in all of my work to achieve the desired function.
