In addition to its anti-inflammatory properties, chamomile is known to have antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, and sedative properties. It has been used historically to treat menstrual cramps, to soothe an aching stomach, to speed the healing process of wounds (when used as a poultice), and most commonly as a sleep aid.
