Incredibly rich and deep brew combines complexity and body. Graded STGFOP (Special Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe), this tea has the highest proportion of tips. The "special" means it also uses the highest quality leaves in that classification.

Extra Info:

Sri Lanka is the largest single exporter of tea in the world. The country exports some 450 million pounds annually grown on half a million acres of land. Until 1869 Sri Lanka was principally a coffee exporter but a coffee blight wiped out the island's coffee bushes. The area was replanted with tea by the British to serve to burgeoning tea market in Europe, Britain and the British colonies.

Brewing Instructions:

Bring filtered or spring water to 212°F. Add 1 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 4 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Ceylon Black tea

Origin:

Sri Lanka, New Vithanakande Estate

This is an amazing tea. The taste is so clear and bright and delicious that it almost defies description.

I love Ceylon teas. This particular one is a bit Assam like. Complex flavors hit your taste buds, then the chewiness of the tea encourages the drinker to add cream and sugar. This is not your average Ceylon. Very tasty.

This is my favorite tea from NM Tea Co.! It has a super-smooth flavor that is great black, or with a tiny splash of milk. I hardly add any sweetener to mine, but it tastes great with a touch of sugar or honey. It is a great all-day tea.

At our house there are two teas that we like to serve for weekends and holidays. This is one of those teas. It is almost impossible to make a mistake when infusing it. One member of our household likes to make several infusions--that is an indication of its quality. But for all of us it is a tea that allows us to follow the arc from 212F to room temp. With a superb balanced profile and dark notes at all temps this is a special tea.

I am not a tea connoisseur, but I have had a good share of decent quality teas in my life. I received Vithanakanda first as a sample, but after I tried it, I couldn't imagine my life without this tea. It has a very beautiful flavor, rich and flowery with a hint of rose petals (there is no flowers in it, the flavor comes from the black tea itself). Whether you are new to tea drinking or a seasoned veteran, this tea is a must.

Until you've had a Ceylon of this quality, you haven’t really had Ceylon. This Ceylon tea has an extra helping of the fruity, floral richness of a fine traditional (for Europeans) black tea. The flavors bloom with a teaspoon of half-and-half to make a special breakfast treat, but this tea is also lovely on its own if not brewed too strongly. It is smoother than other full bodied teas. If you are hosting high tea, these leaves brew an impressive afternoon.
