Excellent fullness with subtle malty sweetness. Only produced during March and April, when the mountain air is moist and cool.

Extra Info:

It is believed throughout the tea world that the Chinese province of Yunnan, which borders Laos, Vietnam, Burma, and Tibet, is the birthplace of the world's first tea plantations. However, in direct contrast to the soothing qualities of a cup of freshly brewed tea, the Yunnan tea plantations, if legend is to be believed, were the byproduct of a terrible war.

Brewing Instructions:

Bring filtered or spring water to 212°F. Add 1 tsp of tea leaves to an 8oz cup. Pour boiling water over the tea leaves and let steep 4 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Organic black tea

Origin:

Yunnan, China

Reviews:

Wine notes. Cloves. Slight peppery notes. Lasted through four infusions.

This is a good morning tea. Dark, heavy, slightly sweet… with an slight, almost dusty aftertaste? Odd to say, but that is not a bad thing. This is a good Yunnan. Not bitter at all even with a long steep time. I personally prefer the Yunnan golds but that is the only reason this doesn't get 5 stars from me. :)

Ordered this as our sample last month -- lovely aroma, nice full flavor with no bitterness and subtle undertones and plenty of sweetness -- we'll be ordering this one.

I have been a devout English Breakfast tea drinker for 20+ years. David suggested I try Royal Yunnan and it has replaced EBT as my morning beverage. It is wonderfully dark with clear, subtle flavors.

This is one of our family's favorite black teas. It is strong without being acidic or bitter. It goes with sweetener and milk very readily.
