Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil, is an excellent tonic for the mind, body and spirit. It has been used in ancient Ayurvedic practice as an adaptogen. Adaptogens are herbs containing properties that help you adapt to and increase your endurance to stress (both physical and mental). The ritual of drinking this tea is just as much a part of my yogic practice as meditation, pranayama, and asanas. I like to add a few rose petals and honey to the brew to add a little lightness and sweetness to tulsi's strong flavor. It's important to find ways to increase our grit and stamina in these times of collective stress, so that we can continue the work of building a better world.
